Overview
ItineraryThis is a typical itinerary for this productStop At: Barbara Falls, Ken Logan Circle, Eagle River, Anchorage, AK 99577We start the tour by following the gorgeous South Fork Eagle River, pausing to observe the ice-dam formations created by frigid-cold and fast-moving water. Ice crystals appear to grow from the surface of the water, slowing and raising the water level in terrific ways. Just minutes later, we arrive at the base of the magical 25-foot waterfall where you see shimmering icicles, fascinating ice bridges and falling water frozen-in-time. After stocking up a store of photos to show your friends and family, we embark on a short nature walk. You will see the stunning vegetation living within our diverse boreal forests. Towering species such as white spruces, paper birches, and aspens drape the frozen ground below. We will explain the intriguing biological mysteries happening within the lichen, mosses, and trees that surround us. We could also see local wildlife, such as: moose, hare, rodents, and birds.Transportation included in total time of tour:(1 hour transportation & 4 hours hiking)Duration: 2 hours

Traveler Reviews

This was just more confirmation that Alaska is God’s country. Magnificent hike, sights and beauty all around. My guide was extremely personable, attentive, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about all things Alaska. She took time out to point out the plethora of foraging options even under a blanket of snow.

I highly recommend trying this in winter. Easy hike to mesmerizing view. Matt was an amazing guide he was very informative and patient. Thanks

What a beautiful snowy trail to the frozen falls! Our guide Matt was friendly, enthusiastic, knowledgeable & made our time a lot of fun! The falls were beautifully frozen over with water flowing through the ice. We were able to also walk through the woods, to the frozen river, where the Mountain views were amazing.Highly recommend Matt and his team for hiking tours when in Alaska!

What a great experience. Hiked in a serene area with ice falls. Matt knows his flora and fauna! We would do this trip again

If you want to get out there but only have half a day, then this tour is perfect! Matt and Greg are a wealth of knowledge regarding the area, plants, and animals. We extended our hike to see a bit more - the frozen waterfall and scenery were just beautiful and we had a great time. We're looking forward to taking another, longer day tour with this company this summer. Thank you Matt!
