ItineraryDepart Cairns on a fast catamaran, which provides a smooth 1.5-hour ride a shorter travel time than other boats, leaving you more of the day to enjoy on the outer Great Barrier Reef. When you arrive at Marine World, begin your exploration of the UNESCO-listed reef, a complex and diverse ecosystem home to more than 1,500 species of fish, 400 types of coral, 200 types of birds, and 20 types of reptiles. Snorkel in the sheltered coral lagoon, go scuba diving with a certified dive (up to three dive sites) or introductory session (no experience necessary), or join the on-board marine biologist for a guided snorkeling safari (diving and guided snorkeling at your own expense). You can also enjoy a session with the marine biologist, who points out resident fish like "Wally," the Maori wrasse. You can even stay dry and view the marine life from the semi-submersible reef viewer, glass-bottom boat, or underwater observatory. Optional activities (own expense) include a helmet dive for a scuba-style experience up to 3 meters deep, or a scenic helicopter flight for an aerial adventure over the reef. Traveler Reviews

This company, quite simply, displays little regard for OH&S protocols (or at least it didn't on the day we toured). The day we visited was quite rough with a pronounced swell overlapped with a vigorous chop. I witnessed people being loaded from the pontoon into a lurching boat from the bow, and without assistance; the children's section was being washed with dangerous swells; the gang plank from the launch to the pontoon was adrift and swinging dangerously; and when we finally cast off from the pontoon crew members were placed between the launch and pontoon stanchions. I have worked as a deckhand on fishing boats, and during the trip I was talking to an ex-RAN man and we both agreed that the standards of care were well below accepted standards. The trip was cut short, and many of the promised activities did not eventuate. No compensation only apologies and appeals to our "understanding". The crew were great people, and they deserve much better. This trip was a major disappointment, and

Brilliant day out overall highly recommend. One thing to be mindful of is the crossing out can be very rough I have never been sea sick but was on this trip, along with most of the other guests I even took a sickness tablet when I boarded it didn’t seem to work, if you know a trick to save yourself from this then definitely do it! Pontoon was great all the snorkel equipment and seating plus a few loungers were ample, it was not a full trip so we were very lucky to have lots of space. We were travelling with a 13 year old as well and this was perfect do him to snorkel all day and come in and out the water freely onto the platform which is monitored all day by snorkel crew, have to say they did a great job looking after everyone including the non swimmers etc The reef was beautiful plenty to see, even saw a reef shark! Full of colour lots of fish and Wally the wrasse made an appearance. Staff are really helpful and look after all the guests well throughout the day including the sickne

Cannot rate this day trip highly enough! Crew were amazing! Boat was very comfortable, pontoon was awesome but the reef…..ahhhh….the reef is beyond belief! So many fish and the coral was outstanding. The “snorkel safari” was an amazing adventure too!

A perfect day all round. The staff are very professional and welcoming and the lunch provided was great also. Definitely worth the money. Thanks to everyone at reef magic was a great day.

Superb day on the reef, largely due to the very attentive and professional crew. My 78 year old mum required assistance to navigate the stairs and gantries; a crew member would appear without prompting to aid her each time. The fast-cat and pontoon were clean and well fitted to accommodate all passengers without crowding. Assistance was readily given for all activities they offered along with great explanations of safety, reef protocols and rules. The food served had everyone going back for seconds and thirds, yummy. This was my second reef visit with Reef Magic, I highly recommend their company to any and all. Special thank you to crew member Jodie for her dedicated attention, making my mums outing stress free and very memorable, thank you ?????
