Traveler Reviews

Fantastic scenery and great commentary from our informative bus driver. We had a spectacular sunny day. The mirror lakes were exactly that! The cruise itself was awesome. As it was a beautiful day we didn't get to see many waterfalls but the Sound was still stunning.

What a day! We felt blessed to have had this experience. A superb tour to a magnificent place on our planet. Not only were the views super... but our tour guide and bus driver Brian was a superstar! He made the full-day bus trip very informative and fun. Stunning views were a given, but we also had plenty of stops for photo ops, and enough toilet breaks along the way too. Comfortable bus with big windows. The Milford Haven Boat ride when we got to the Milford Sounds was really good too! Such a stunning place. NOTES* We did a return trip from Queenstown... so, pack a lunch if you can, we grabbed some filled rolls from Fergbaker (who opened late the night before) which were really great. Then there is a cafe stop in Te Anau where we grabbed a quick pie for breakfast. The Chicken pie was a good'n ;-) Bring cash for food and drinks (wine too) on the boat!

The cruise to Milford Sound was great but the driver/tour guide of the bus was inconsiderate. The trip was rushed but we understand the tight schedule but he made the experience uncomfortable with his unplesant attitude.

Hoping for fine weather, we should have been disappointed with the misty clouds and scattered rain. However the weather actually contributed towards making the trip more memorable. We had a night at Birchwood Cottages, then we’re taken by their minibus on the drive to Milford. Many stops along the way, including morning tea with provided scones and tea/coffee, plus a running commentary from Jamie whose 25 years of experience truly showed through the imparted knowledge. It was a great day and the cruise took us the full length of the fiord over two hours with more commentary and humour by our skipper. The scenery was enhanced by the beautiful waterfalls created by the recent (and current) rain. Back on our coach, on the way “home”, Jamie took us on a brief walk alongside Marian Cascade which was just stunning! Delivered safely back in Te Anau, we had a great roast meal at “The Ranch” and another cosy night at Birchwood Cottages, to complete a really happy stay in Te Anau.

the whole day was brilliant. early start but well worth it. Our bus driver was really informative. The boat trip was the nest part, fantastic views,
