Traveler Reviews

What a great trip. We had already been to Fitzroy in January so we decided to do Green island this trip. The staff were fantastic. The boat has a small bar with soft drinks $3 and packets of chips, ice cream etc. a marine biologist gave a great talk about the island and the reasons behind the bird life (yes there was bird poo around however it wasn’t too bad and I didn’t find any smell) and you really need to ignore it as it’s what keeps the island life alive. We opted for the glass bottom boat ride as the kids had there own snorkel equipment. Snorkel equipment on the boat was free, you just needed to leave a deposit ($20/room key/ drivers license) and you get it back when you take the gear back. The stinger suits were about $10 each to hire (no refund on those). The Big Cat staff also did a fish feed which was so cool (allowable by the national parks GBR conservation area - they are allowed to feed the fish a certain amount of pilchards a day). Once on the island we hea

Green Island is a good place to visit. The ferry trip is good. I have booked online with Viator which should be including glass bottom boat with a higher price. However when I check in, they say that my trip is only having ferry return. Not including any activity. Finally they allowed us to have the glass bottom boat trip. This shows that there is some tricks in between Viator and big cat.

The entire trip was awesome! Semi sub and seeing all the fish, along with great cometary from the team!

An amazing trip out to Green Island. We took the 11am ferry, which is the fast ferry (takes only 45mins), and beats the other ferry home too. We went for the snorkelling/lunch/semisub options, which were handled from the main cat based out at the island. The crew on the fast were great, and got us setup with snorkelling gear, lifejackets for the little ones so they could snorkel, stinger suits etc. This ferry goes back and forth, so once we arrived at Green Island, we setup on the bigger cat. The trip itself was great, and the Big Cat staff told us the best places to snorkel (basically - straight off the jetty). Lunch was a buffet, and lots of food to eat. The semi submersible tour was stunning, with plenty of fish and coral. We also saw a couple of turtles and reef sharks on the semi sub tour as well. During our snorkelling time we saw plenty of colourful reef fish, about 10 turtles, and coral. I would definitely come back out to Green Island, on the Big Cat day tours.

We did half day trip in morning and added snorkelling! Was awesome! Staff very friendly the boat was clean and spacious. Comfortable ride to island in 45mins. The water was abit murky on beach side so did the area near jetty ad we saw turtles and lots of marine fish. Excellent for kids of all ages to get a feel fir snorkelling. Half day was enough but a full day would be better. A must to do if you dont want to travel far.
