Traveler Reviews

Hey Y'all! I'm a local and happened upon this tour opportunity online. It's exactly what I'd been looking for and my daughter and I had a fabulous time with Mr. Franklin learning about our history as a people in Charleston. We were given so much information that the other tours don't offer. Thanks Mr. Franklin for a job well done. I will recommend.

Franklin was a thoroughly knowledgeable and engaging tour guide. His super power is his ability to generate thoughtful inquiry. Other guides have left me feeling dazzled and full of new information. Franklin left me with a plethora of leads on historical stories that I am excited to look up on my own, as well as an understanding of African symbology I never noticed, but am finding around the city now that I know to look for it. I appreciated that this tour took us through historic Wraggborough, so we were seeing landmarks that many other tours that stick to the French Quarter don't visit. I am thankful for the greater appreciation I now have for the foundational contributions from Black Charlestonians who built this city over hundreds of years.

Despite the rain cutting part of the walk we still got the education....very informative. This is a tour you must take to get the true black history of Charleston without the tourist sugarcoat. This was timely

Our family had the most amazing lesson in Charleston history, taught by a teacher who was so passionate and knowledgeable about all that he was sharing. Our two teenager children were so engaged the entire time and he stopped throughout, encouraging them to ask questions based on the information being shared. He shared history in such a way that it will always be remembered by us all. He allowed us time to take pictures where we wanted to and was just so engaging throughout. Books were recommended to expand on the knowledge shared and this experience will always be remembered and highly recommended!! The highlight of our trip to South Carolina ? Thank you!

Easy flow to this tour. Started on sacred ground at the 'gates of Charleston' and included a stop at Emanuel A.M.E. Church. Leared what a "Protest" house was as well as up close views of how houses were built -- blue paint secret. Enjoyed very much with much Franklin Williams.
