Overview
ItineraryThis is a typical itinerary for this productStop At: Vidden Trail between Mt. Floyen and Mt. Ulriken, Mt. Ulriken, Bergen NorwayJoin us on this legendary walk across the ‘Vidden’ plateau. A guide from Norway Mountain Guides will join you on the hike.We do the walk that is loved by all local mountain enthusiasts. The walk is from Mt Ulriken to Mt Fløyen. Starting from Mt Ulriken makes for an easier walk, and you get great views of Bergen and the Byfjord. Mt Ulriken is the highest mountain in Bergen at 643 metres, and our destination is Mt Fløyen, which is 300 metres. The guide takes you safely over the mountains, and brings a comprehensive first-aid kit. On the way, you will learn about Bergen and Norway, and, not least, about Norwegian outdoor pursuits. If children come along on the walk, we will tell them stories about the trolls who live in the mountains.Practical information:Time: Approx. 4-6 hours with breaksLevel: Medium/ experienced, blue categoryKm: 13 (if you take the cable car up/funicular down)Terrain: Relatively easy to walkElevation: 643 metres – 300 metres.Starts at: Mt Ulriken, 605 metres. Ends at Mt Fløyen, 300 metresThis walk can be done all year, but don’t forget that the weather changes quickly. Proper clothes and shoes are important. The walk takes you up to an elevation hundreds of metres above the city centre, where it is normally quite a lot colder than in the centre. We don’t follow a road, but a trail the whole way. The terrain is undulating, but it is not heavy-going. There are some steep sections, but no exposed parts. The path can be wet and muddy. When we arrive at our destination, Mt Fløyen, you can walk or take the Fløibanen funicular back down to the city centre.13 kilometres is a good distance, so you need to be in OK shape to do the walk. If you’re in doubt, get in touch with us.This walk is a must to be able to call yourself a ‘Bergenser’ or Bergen patriot. We guarantee you a lovely and safe walk in good company and, not least, high spirits!Rendezvous point: At the top of Mt Ulriken (by the upper station) outside the shop at 10.00 sharp. Traveler Reviews

We had a pretty long holidays in Bergen in the end of October. We planned to go hiking right away when we arrived but due to rain (I would call it a storm) we could not make it but the Norway Mountain Guides were very flexible to help us re-arrange the trip. Eventually, the hike was our last activity, on our last day in Bergen, to wrap up our whole vacation. And, thank God, that decision is the one which cannot be more right to make. It went perfectly and we had the most wonderful experience ever. Why? #1 - Bergen is beautiful and so its nature. The city from high view (we luckily made it to the sunset), snow on the mountains, then lakes, rocks, grass,... everything is even more beautiful than the things you are imaging. #2 - We got the best preparation from our beloved guide (Hann... let her introduce herself when you meet her). One day before the trip, she called us to check on how we prepare for the trip with some useful advises and suggestions. On the day we hiked, I... stupidly 'c

Frank, Henrik and Anna gave us a wonderfull insight in the culture and nature of the area around Bergen. They were real authentic people always looking for the safety and harmony of the group. Knew a lot about the area and real experienced hiking mountaineers. Despite of the weather we had a great time. A wonderfull and amazing time voor 4 days and really everything was taking care of. Frank Henrik and Anna are above all Ver Nice and Kind people, not claiming the stage and have some really good and human touch stories. Also the side programm with the very special top food experience and speeches and the visita in the bars of Bergen was very good organised. Also for a big group we had after 1,5 year lockdown of bar and pubs in Bergen because of Covid. We had the time, Frank had the clock. We will never forget this once in a lifetime experience. Our team will remember this event voor the next decade. I recommend Franks team to everybody. Together Everyone Achieved More with them. Thanks

Jeg hadde en fantastisk fin tur med guide på vidden! Turen hadde alt: vakkert landskap, erfaren guide og passe tempo for min form :) Anbefales!

We had a beautiful day on the mountains. Frank our guide understood ,when we started walking, that my pace is slower than the others in our small group. He made the accommodations needed and we enjoyed the route very much. Frank is very experienced in hiking. He also shared with us much information about Norway and Norwegian people and the atmosphere was very pleasant. I highly recommend taking a hike with him. Wish he had more hikes in different lengths and degrees of difficulty, but all in all it was an unforgettable adventure!

I travelled to Bergen this summer and I booked the Bergen Classic tour. I was a bit nervous, but Frank was the kindest! From the moment we met he made sure everybody was comfortable and ready to hike. Soon in the hike it was clear that the experience level of the different people in our group was divided and that we wouldn't be able to finish the planned tour. Frank then made sure we made an equivalent (but shorter) hike, with equally nice views. He told us about Norwegian history, customs, nature and answered all of our questions. He helped when we needed it, and he made sure everybody was fine and happy. It was a beautiful day!
