While we loved this little village, our experience with Viator and Go ParadiseRD (tour operator) was less than stellar. Our trip was delayed two hours due to mechanical issues. We attempted- and so did our resort- but the phone number wasn’t working. Finally received an email after getting through to Viator customer service. We reserved an English guide, who we picked up along the highway. He hardly spoke to us the entire one hour ride. When we got to Altos de Chavon, he paid our entrance fee and walked us to the plaza and told us to be back at the van in an hour!! When we were done, no asking if we enjoyed ourselves or anything. Once back at the hotel, he couldn’t be bothered to get out and say good. By the way, he said he couldn’t reach us in the morning because of an incorrect number. They had our name and knew what resort we were staying at…a little extra effort on their part would have been the right thing to do.

I had a great time and was able to see an art gallery, and museum, theatre and gardens. I could have used maybe a little more time but otherwise it was a great experience. The tour guide was on the phone most of the time but he was nice and checked in on me periodically but this is very much a self-guided tour.
