Traveler Reviews

Recently did this tour with Pete in Port Douglas and it was great fun. He was on-time with pick up and we happened to be the only two on the tour that day. After a taste of some local chocolate and a sweet drink made with sugar cane, our first stop was a local farm shop where we purchased some delicious fruits, dates and sunflower based salad sprinkles called Kefir Queen. Pete has wonderful knowledge of the area and he was full of great stories. Next stop was a Barramundi farm where we learned all about the fish and Pete made us barra sashimi. Yum! We watched him filet the fish and he described the local ingredients he was using. After a short ride further up north we arrived at Shannonvale tropical fruit winery where we had a lovely wine tasting with Trudie while Pete cooked us lunch. Tropical fruit wines are quite unusual and we had fun scoring the different varieties. Our dessert was chocolate wine on Daintree ice cream with coconut chips. We thoroughly enjoyed the day and highly re

Pete was so passionate about the food and the sustainability of the food, it was a pleasure to spend time with him. He was knowledgeable and shared this knowledge in a relaxed and friendly way.

Peter, the tour operator, displays his knowledge and passion regarding the areas surrounding Port Douglas and the local produce available, including a shop run exclusively to showcase small, local producers. After visiting a number of local producers, Peters’ skills from his previous life as a chef come to the fore, as he prepares a delicious lunch of sustainably sourced Barramundi prepared three different ways. Incredibly fresh and tasty. An enjoyable day and we highly recommend this tour.

Pete was extremely informative. Easy to get along with. Nice length tour. Plenty to see. Pete was an amazing chef. Fresh Barra. AMAZING
