Overview
ItineraryThis is a typical itinerary for this productStop At: Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, Mile 79 Seward Highway, Girdwood, Anchorage, AK 99587The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is a sanctuary dedicated to preserving Alaska’s wildlife through conservation, research, education and quality animal care. AWCC takes in injured and orphaned animals year-round and provides them with spacious enclosures and quality animal care. Most of the animals that arrive at the AWCC become permanent residents and will always have a home here. The Center maintains over 200 acres of spacious habitats for animals to feel at home and display their natural “wild” behavior. Visitors may see brown bears cooling off in the water, a bull moose strutting, wood bison roaming on pastures and more.Duration: 2 hoursStop At: Beluga Point, Seward Highway, Anchorage, AK 99516This is a popular stop as you travel the Seward Highway. Here you'll find 180 degree views of Turnagain Arm. There's an extensive viewing area with spotting scopes and interpretive signs. This is an excellent spot to watch the bore tide. The incoming tide stretched the entire width of Turnagain Arm and can be six feet high as it rushes in. Watch for kayakers and surfers riding the wave for several miles. Look for beluga whales rolling in the surf (starting in September) Duration: 15 minutes

Traveler Reviews

I have to mention that the tour guide was not wearing a mask. That was not my preference, especially with Delta becoming a huge threat. But other than that, the tour was amazing! The guide was extremely knowledgeable and took us to a number of off-the-beaten-path locations. Maybe my favorite tour of the trip!

Our day was fun and interesting from beginning to the end . Matt was friendly and flexible. He was very informative too. Highly recommend.

The tour was beautiful of course. Matt made the trip great because of his knowledge of the area. Go prepared to enjoy the group you are with, and the experience will be amazing.

Really awesome tour. Our guide LeLinda was super down to earth and knew all kinds of cool things about Alaska. She even went out of her way and dropped us off at Anchorage Brewing after the tour! Big big thank you to LeLinda and I suggest you go on her tour if in Anchorage

The entire tour was a hit thanks to our friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful tour guide, LeLinda. Even though I am not a huge fan of zoos or conservation centers, I highly recommend visiting the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center with its massive enclosures. Our photos of bears, moose, muskox, caribou, porcupine, reindeer etc. look like the animals are out in the wild. LeLinda has traveled extensively in Alaska and provided much insight into the history, landscape, and flora and fauna of Alaska. We would love to travel with her to other parts of Alaska. Thanks, LeLinda for the "front row seat" on my July birthday.
