Traveler Reviews

Firstly to say this is a food tour would be a huge injustice…it is so much more than that. My family and I were so fortunate to spend the afternoon walking around Reykjavik with Ýmir, who is the most amazing host. We ate incredible food, sampled amazing wine / beer, saw stunning street art, listened to music together (fans of Sigur Rós and Jónsi will love it), visited some very cool places and learnt so much more about Iceland. The passion and warmth that Ýmir has radiates from him and it felt like we were catching up with an old friend rather than meeting someone for the first time. My children (11 and 9) loved every minute of it and haven’t stop talking about it, saying it was their favourite day - considering we’ve seen all the attractions of the Golden Circle and been to the Blue Lagoon, pretty impressive feedback! This should be on anyone’s list when visiting Reykjavik / Iceland - you will not be disappointed. Thank you so much Ýmir for a truly special day that we will never forg

We did the Reykjavik food and wine tour as well as the Golden Circle tour with the wonderful Ymir back in June/July 2021. We have traveled a lot over the years and these were up there with the best tours we have ever done! Ymir was warm, friendly and passionate about his home country. Nothing was too much trouble and he went out of his way to make the trips special. As well as the great food, he gave us insight into the unique art and music of Reykjavik and gave us recommendations about other trips we had planned. This was our first trip since COVID and was a route for us to get home to see family, little did we know how special it would be, thank you Ymir!! We will definitely be back to Iceland and I would definitely recommend Magical Iceland as part of your trip.

You're planning your Reykjavik trip I assume which is likely why you're here right? So let me give you the BEST guidance you'll receive. Book Ymir's Private Food & Wine Tour as the first thing you do after arriving to this amazing country. You already made the #1 best choice which is visiting Reykjavik and booking this experience will without a doubt make your trip to Iceland the #2 best choice you made, maybe even the best decision actually, lol! You get what I'm saying. My wife and I have traveled throughout a significant portion of the world and even traveled specifically to enjoy good food and wine at our destination. We've been fortunate enough to have lived in food centric cities such as New York, Paris, New Orleans, Mexico City and Chicago to name a few. We have also worked with some of the best Luxury Resorts, Hotels and companies offering award winning customer service experiences in the world. We heard Reykjavik's food scene had developed significantly in the past 5+ years

The best way to learn about a place is by going on a food tour with a local. Gabriela, our food guide did not disappoint! We learned about the history, toured downtown Reykjavik and ate amazing food. It was so easy to talk with her, like chatting and joking with a friend. It was a wonderful experience trying different Icelandic food and beer. Thanks to Gabriela, we even tried the fermented shark! Definitely an acquired taste. Magical Iceland food tour was a great jump start to our amazing trip in Iceland. We definitely recommend it.

We came as a group of 10 and did the Reykjavik Food & Wine Tour, as well as the Gourmet Golden Circle Tour with Ymir. They were the highlights of our trip! The food experiences, drinks, stories, and adventures were all unique and memorable. Instead of feeling like we were with a "guide", Ymir made us feel like we were traveling with an Icelandic friend and getting to see an insider's view of Iceland. On our 3rd day, Ymir coordinated an ATV tour for us with lunch cooked over a fire in a cave. Such a truly magical and memorable experience! I also wanted to give a shout out to his other services, specifically he prepared an itinerary for me and my husband to enjoy our solo 3 days in Iceland after our group left. He booked us the most amazing room, provided a driving itinerary to hit all the highlights, and also gave us solid suggestions on tours/activities to book. Thank you, Ymir, for a truly once in a lifetime experience!
