Eldhestar has healthy and motivated horses for beginners and advanced riders, great guides, a charming management and an excellent organisation. The area is very diverse and exciting, geothermal fields in abundance, mountains, valleys, fields, rivers to cross on horseback and beach to tölt along! The hotel is relaxing and welcoming and has two hot tubs.

Best experience you could have seeing the country by horseback! This was our second visit with Eldhestar and if we return, we would definitely book with them again!

We were picked up from our hotel by an extremely friendly gentleman called Nicol. When we arrived at the stables we were given shell suits which kept us warm and helmets to keep us safe. Silvie (Silvia) was our guide to the Hot Springs. Our group was asked about our previous horse riding experience, we were a mixed ability group but this made no difference as everyone was taught the basics; the Icelandic horse has a special gait called a Tolt, which is between a gallop and a trot. During the ride we learnt about how well the horses are kept. The horses themselves were lovely, so friendly and very relaxed around new people. Anna, a lovely woman working in the adjacent hotel, accompanied us on the tour and she was so friendly! The views were beautiful and the ride was so comfortable, we went through a river on the horses which was amazing and we even got to canter! Great activity with my 8 yo son. Friendly and helpfull staff and well trained horses easy to ride. Stables were clean and well maintained. Animal wellfare seemed very good!
