Policies and Procedures for all travellers visiting The Bahamas beginning July 1 are as follows. Plans continue to evolve in response to COVID-19 trends, and so additional
guidance will be communicated as details are available.
UPDATE: July 8, 2020 - The Ministry of Health wishes to advise the public that travelers must complete a Bahamas Health Visa application and present a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test with a sample taken within ten (10) days of arrival.
Effective immediately, all travelers will be required to complete an electronic Bahamas Health Visa application before departure from the place of embarkation. This can be found at travel.gov.bs . Travelers are required to upload a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test and provide contact information.
The Government of The Bahamas will accept the negative COVID-19 RT-PCR (swab) test if the sample was taken within (10) ten days of arrival. Test over ten (10) days old will not be accepted.
An automated response will be provided once the application is completed. The only persons approved to travel are those who have received a green color-coded response, as proof of approval. This confirmation must be presented upon arrival in The Bahamas. The Health Visa application process will take twenty-four to forty-eight (24-48) hours and should be completed with adequate lead time.
Failure to comply with the stated requirements will result in denied entry. It is recommended that all travelers interested in visiting the Bahamas review requirements applicable to each member of their traveling party at www.bahamas.com/travelupdates before booking a trip.

Select individuals will be exempt from testing, which includes children under the age of two, private pilots who do not deplane, and Bahamian citizens, residents and homeowners returning from English speaking CARICOM countries.
No quarantine will be required upon arrival, however, travellers who show symptoms of COVID-19 may be transferred to an area away from other passengers for further testing and evaluation.
All inter-island travellers must complete an electronic Domestic Travel form at travel.gov.bs prior to departure and for any inter-island travel within The Bahamas. An automated response will be provided upon completion. All travellers must have their confirmation on hand upon arrival to their destination. This is a crucial step for contact tracing purposes.
At airports and seaports, healthcare personnel will conduct temperature screenings for all incoming visitors. Travellers will be required to wear a face mask in any situation where it is necessary to enforce physical distancing guidelines, such as when entering and transiting air and sea terminals, while navigating security and customs screenings, and at baggage claim.
As part of Phase 2, hotels and second-home vacation rentals will open to guests. Domestic and International airlines are permitted to resume service, and many are beginning to announce plans for their return to The Bahamas.
This July 1 tourism re-entry builds on and supports existing government rules and regulations, which already allows for the resumption of travel for international boaters, yachters and those traveling on private aviation as well as inter-island domestic travel for Bahamian citizens and residents.
Once on island, travellers should expect to follow The Bahamas’ “Healthy Traveler Campaign” that encourages both visitors and residents to continue practicing social distancing measures, regularly wash hands or use hand sanitizers, and pack appropriate PPE such as face masks, just as they would their swimsuits and sunscreen.
A Certification Agency has been established - representing a collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Health, and other regulatory agencies - to enforce a Clean & Pristine certification program across the islands. All tourism related, customer-facing entities in The Bahamas must verify they have in place and are adhering to the Government approved health and safety guidelines to receive Clean & Pristine certification. Adequate signage outlining policies will be clearly displayed at all locations helping to guide staff and visitors.

Reopening of borders will continue to be monitored and guided by The Bahamas government and health officials. Reopening dates are subject to change based on COVID-19 trends, if there is a deterioration in improvement or if government and health organizations deem these phases unsafe for residents or visitors.

Atlantis will be reopening in phases. Phase 1 begins July 7, 2020 when the first guests will be welcomed to The Royal, followed by The Cove on July 14, 2020. In phase I Royal Bath, Mayan Temple, Power Temple, Zero Entry and Splashers will open. All beaches will open and, Dolphin Cay will open. Phase two of Atlantis' reopening plan will be contigent on business volume.
The Atlantis Safety & Cleanliness Council was created to tackle the realities of the COVID-19 pandemic and further advance the company's prevention efforts. The Council is focused on developing the next level of global hospitality cleanliness standards, norms, and behaviors that are designed to minimize risk and enhance safety for our community.
The Council is focused on more than just disinfection across the resort; they are providing a holistic approach designed to take care of all who pass through our doors. We are setting a higher bar of safety and cleanliness, so you can enjoy more peace of mind when you travel.
With few exceptions, our team members are required to wear masks. They are also required to go through screening and temperature scans before entering the property each day. Contractors and suppliers are also subject to these same requirements before being granted access to Atlantis facilities.
Guests are strongly encouraged to wear masks in all indoor public areas throughout the resort. In certain instances, such as riding in elevators and playing at casino table games, masks are required. We ask that guests follow a self-screening protocol prior to arriving and during your stay. If you have reason to believe you may have been exposed to the virus, we strongly urge you to stay at home and follow CDC guidelines for self-quarantine.

If you develop symptoms during your stay, we have protocols in place and access to medical professionals to assist.
Team members will receive comprehensive training on new health and safety protocols, on proper wearing and use of PPE when on property, and reinforced training on the importance of frequent handwashing, disinfection, and observing physical distancing guidelines.
This measure of protection will remain in effect per CDC guidelines, and local health directives, or until the COVID-19 virus is no longer a critical risk. Atlantis encourages guests to wear masks in public areas, and, in certain circumstances, required if 6-foot distancing cannot be maintained.
Hand washing and sanitizing stations with no less than 60% alcohol-based hand sanitizer have been added throughout the resort.
Signage to guide and remind our team members and guests of the enhanced protocols such as washing hands, coughing and sneezing etiquette, physical distancing, and avoiding touching their faces have been placed throughout the resort.
Capacity has been reduced throughout the resort to enable physical distancing of 6 feet/2meters. Guests will be advised to practice physical distancing by standing a minimum of 6 feet/2meters from other groups of people not traveling with them, including in any area where guests or team members queue. Floor guides and signage will serve as reminders throughout the resort to maintain physical distancing, and where possible, encourage one-way guest flow with marked entrances and exits.
From time-to-time, 6-feet/2 meters distancing will be challenging—in those cases, reasonable mitigating protocols will be implemented, such as plexiglass barriers or face shields for the safety of our guests and team members.
Our community safety, health, and well-being is our #1 priority. For nearly 25 years, Atlantis has adhered to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety protocols. Our resort is always rigorously cleaned and sanitized every day. But now more than ever, our existing industry-leading practices are being enhanced to include several pre-emptive disinfecting measures, assuring guests the peace of mind to enjoy their vacation with the utmost confidence.
These enhanced procedures meet or exceed recommendations from the CDC, WHO, and BMH. Following their guidelines, we have already increased the frequency of deep cleaning, with a focus on high-touch surfaces in common-areas. We will continue using EPA-approved hospital-grade disinfectants for use and effectiveness against COVID-19, bacteria, and other infectious pathogens. Electrostatic sprayers will be used in many of our areas to allow us to apply disinfectants more effectively, and the disinfectants used will continuously combat bacteria for up to 60 days. We are also using UV-C light technology as an additional sanitizing measure.
We are reimagining several aspects of the guest experience through technology to help safeguard the health and well-being of our guests.
The most convenient way to check-in is as easy as reaching for your smartphone. Atlantis is putting the arrival experience in the hands of our guests, enabling them to expedite the check-in process up to 24-hours prior to arrival.
Guests can authorize their registration form and confirm their arrival time, all before setting foot in the lobby. Once a room has been assigned, guests will receive a text or email letting them know they can retrieve their room key and welcome packet simply by showing their ID at the dedicated Express Check-in area located in the main lobby.
QR Codes for Guest Info
In keeping with COVID-19 safety measures to reduce the number of surfaces that may come into contact with the virus, and further our environmental efforts to reduce paper waste, we will have guest info on daily activities, programs, and restaurant menus available via scannable QR codes.
Innovative Disinfection Technologies
Atlantis added new technologies, like electrostatic sprayers – which use an electrostatically charged high-grade disinfecting mist – and UV-C light technology to sanitize surfaces and objects. Through the electrostatic process, the disinfectant is emitted as charged droplets that are actively attracted to surfaces for full wrap-around disinfectant coverage.
Atlantis has many protocols in place aimed at reducing the chance of a COVID-19 outbreak at our resort, and effective containment should there be a case or suspected case. In the unfortunate event, a guest or team member tests positive for the virus, we will activate established incident response protocols to ensure the infected individual is isolated and has prompt access to medical treatment. Any exposed areas will be extensively cleaned and disinfected. Contact tracing is part of the protocol, so if a suspected or confirmed case does occur, we will notify the Surveillance Unit of BMH. Atlantis' medical and security personnel are trained to respond quickly in the event of an incident.
