minimizing environmental footprint while maximizing positive impact

Striving to be the Caribbean’s leading sustainable resort, Golden Rock Resort’s commitment encompasses respect for the environment and local community. The eco-resort has implemented various initiatives aimed at minimizing environmental footprint while maximizing positive impact. Since the resort opened in 2021, over 130,000 plants, flowers and trees have been planted, creating breathtaking gardens and a new habitat for local wildlife. A 2,240 solar panel park produces 0.8 megawatts of electricity a day, allowing the resort and its fleet of electric vehicles to be almost fully off the grid. Through reverse osmosis machines, salt water from the ocean is pumped through a series of membrane-containing pipes, filtering out the salt and small particles resulting in pure, clean drinking water throughout the entire resort and all of its taps. Thereafter, the resort’s wastewater is treated through helophyte filters and used to irrigate the plants and grass. There is a 20,000 sq foot greenhouse on the property, growing organic herbs and vegetables. With St Eustatius’ climate and natural sunlight, they are able to grow all year round using no pesticides, and produce is served in both of the on-site restaurants, Bobbie’s Beach Club and Breeze.

Through these ongoing initiatives, Golden Rock Resort has installed a Solar PV of 718kWP with an additional 500kWp and 1,000kWp being invested. With the current Wp Battery Energy Storage System in place, the BESS Renewable Energy factor rises to 81+%, making Golden Rock Resort one of the top sustainable resorts in the region, according to Green World Company Projects records. This has shown impressive savings in CO2 and environmental factors, including an annual CO2 savings of 1014 metric tons, 188 cars taken off the road in one year, 129 homes powered in one year, gasoline savings of 106,722 gallons, forest savings of 764 acres and 7,716 lightbulbs powered in one year.
