The Dolomites, also known as the Dolomite Mountains, Dolomite Alps or Dolomitic Alps are a mountain range lying in the eastern section of the northern Italian Alps. The mountain complex which comprises 18 peaks rising to more than 10,000 feet (3,050 meters), extends over the regions of Veneto, Trentino Alto Adige and Friuli Venezia Gilia covering an area shared between the provinces of Belluno, Vicenza, Verona, Trentino, South Tyrol, Udine and Pordenone.

Located at an altitude of about 1,496 meters (4,908 ft) above sea level, the 77-acre lake captivates with its turquoise-green color water and the impressive reflections of the surrounding mountain peaks. The mountain lake is part of the Fanes-Sennes-Braies nature park in a side valley next to the picturesque Val Pusteria. The so-called “Pearl of the Dolomites” is a perfect spot for natura lovers and a starting point for hikes, ski tours, snowshoe hikes, walks and boat tours.
