This excursion is provided by Chabe Limousines – Tours
Located just 45 minutes from Bordeaux to the right bank of the Dordogne River lies Saint Emilion and Pomerol and their nearby villages, Lalande de Pomerol and Castillon. The tour rewards you with steep, dramatic hillsides and sweeping views. Choose a visit to one of the renowned Grand Cru wineries or meet with a dynamic young winemaker who can t afford to buy land in affluent Saint Emilion. Many of these young producers are full of ideas, picked up most often from working holidays in Australia and California. In the main appellation, it can be hard to get in to visit the big names like Ausone or Petrus, but there are plenty of winemakers who are only too happy to show you around. Also, don t miss a visit of the medieval village of St Emilion, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999, and visit at least one winery whose barrels are stored in a monolithic cellar, dug out of the limestone hillsides.
