George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) Terminal B Transformation Program
United announced growth plans in Houston that include a $2.6 billion renovation and expansion of Terminal B at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), a new United Club location and Early Bag Storage facility (EBS). This ambitious project is set to redefine the air travel experience and cater to the future needs of an estimated 36 million passengers. The program encompasses the construction of 40 new gates for both domestic and international travel, ensuring a cutting-edge experience for travelers.
United will offer non-stop flights between Mexico's soon-to-open Tulum International Airport and New York/Newark, Los Angeles, Houston and Chicago beginning March 31
United also is growing its network in the broader Latin America and Caribbean region by 25% this winter, and will remain the largest U.S. airline to Central America. Some additional enhancements in United’s Caribbean and Latin America winter schedule include:

Earlier Starts to Seasonal Service
While transatlantic summer travel demand remains at an all-time high, United has increasingly seen customers seek out spring shoulder season getaways. Last spring**, United flew 33% more customers across the Atlantic than in 2022, and the airline anticipates the demand will only continue to grow in spring 2024. To give customers more time and options to visit Europe, the airline is resuming several of its most popular routes early, including:
New International Destinations
New York/Newark-Marrakesh, Morocco
Next winter, United will have the most flights to the most destinations in Africa from metro New York – and will be the only airline to directly connect the U.S. and Marrakesh – with new service from New York/Newark, launching October 24. The flight will be offered three times weekly on a Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, equipped with 46 United Polaris® business class and 22 United Premium Plus® seats to provide options for an elevated travel experience.
This new service further expands United’s presence in Africa, building on the airline’s existing service to Accra, Ghana; Lagos, Nigeria; and Cape Town and Johannesburg, South Africa.
Tokyo/Narita-Cebu, Philippines
United expands its presence in the Philippines with new year-round, non-stop service from Tokyo-Narita, starting July 31. United will be the only U.S. carrier to fly to Cebu with daily flights on 737-800 aircraft, which will have convenient connections from United’s flights from San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, Newark-New York, and Houston to Tokyo-Narita. United is the only U.S. carrier to offer transpacific service to the Philippines with its daily flights between San Francisco and Manila, and also flies to Manila from Guam and Palau.
Houston-Medellin, Colombia
For the first time ever, United will fly non-stop to Medellin, Colombia with daily service from Houston on Boeing 737 aircraft, beginning October 27. This new route expands United’s presence in Colombia, complementing existing service from Houston and Newark to Bogota. In total, United will serve 52 destinations in Latin America from Houston.

United’s new Airbus A321neo takes its inaugural flight from Houston on November 30. This is the first new Airbus aircraft to enter United’s fleet and features United’s most advanced cabin interior yet – including Panasonic’s new NEXT inflight entertainment system, which offers an up to 13 inch, 4K screen and a customizable passenger experience including curated content options, a more detailed flight timeline, 3D map with destination guides and onboard food and beverage menus. The new aircraft also offers:
United expects to take delivery of about 800 new narrowbody and widebody aircraft between 2023 and the end of 2032, while retrofitting existing narrowbody aircraft with United’s Signature Interior.
More options to more places give customers plenty of choices - and time - to visit Europe next year
United builds on its leading transatlantic network with the debut of its largest-ever summer 2024 schedule – which includes the first and only non-stop flight between New York/Newark-Faro, Portugal* and new flights to Reykjavik*, Brussels, Rome and Malaga. The airline also brings back nine of its most popular seasonal routes to Portugal, Italy, France and Spain up to two months early to give customers more time and options to explore Europe.
Continued Growth in Asia-Pacific and Latin America
Next summer, United’s network across the Pacific will grow more than 30% with non-stop service to 15 destinations – including the airline’s newest routes between San Francisco-Manila and San Francisco-Beijing. The airline will also grow its Latin American schedule by 10% next summer, extending some of its newest and most popular routes into the summer season. Highlights include new service between Denver-San Juan; Denver-Montego Bay; New York/Newark-Barbados and New York/Newark-Curaçao.
